It’s hard to believe the regular season ends on Thursday, February 16th–less than a month from now! Please note this important information about the playoffs:
GENERAL
All teams make the playoffs.
TCBL establishes its playoff brackets with the goal of maximizing parity. As such, teams may be moved to a higher or lower playoff bracket based on regular season results.
Seedings are based on regular-season record, head-to-head competition, and coin toss/pick out of hat if teams are still tied.
Brackets will range in size with multiple levels (e.g. A/B or A/B/C) wherever possible.
Throughout the playoffs, the higher-seeded team will be treated as the “home” team and should wear white.
SCHEDULING AND KEY DATES
TCBL will disseminate the playoff brackets on or about Thursday, February 23nd.
Playoff games can begin as early as Monday, February 27th.
Quarterfinal and outbracket games, if applicable to your bracket, are to be scheduled by agreement between opponents subject to the following cutoff dates: Friday, March 3rd (outbracket) and Thursday, March 9th (quarterfinal).
The higher seed will host and must offer the visiting team a minimum of two dates.
TCBL has reserved slots for semi-final and championship games during the weekends of March 3rd/4th/5th and March 10th/11th/12 at Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers and House of Sports in Ardsley.
If your program uses coaches who coach more than one TCBL team, please let us know the multiple teams so we can avoid any conflicts for the semis and finals.
PLAYOFF REFEREES
As in years past, TCBL will cover referee fees incurred for all rounds of the playoffs.
For all outbracket and quarterfinal games, the hosting team should secure referees via their assignor as if it were a regular-season game.
TCBL will secure referees for all neutral-site games.
We realize this is a lot of information, so don’t hesitate to reach out if anything isn't clear.
Good luck to all 188 teams over the regular-season home stretch and we’ll see you in the gym soon!
