The Tri-County Basketball League, Inc. (TCBL) was founded in 1997 to promote competitive basketball for young people residing in Westchester, Fairfield and Putnam Counties.

TCBL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of student athletes, recognizing that individuals can combine good academics while playing competitive sports.

Encouraging fitness, leadership, team spirit and good sportsmanship has always been the primary purpose of the organization, which originated out of a fellowship and cooperation among coaches in various communities including Carmel, New Castle, North Salem, Pleasantville, Ridgefield, Scarsdale, Somers and Yorktown Heights.

TCBL allows only town or school district-based teams. Our intent is for players in the same grade and community to play and grow together. This concept is central to the TCBL philosophy.

We encourage all area school districts and towns to develop a community-focused competitive basketball program and participate in TCBL.

TCBL does not allow teams to recruit talent from outside their team’s jurisdiction as we believe this detracts from the league’s community focus. Similarly, TCBL also does not allow closed tryouts.

When the league started, it had fewer than 100 players. Today, there are over 1,200 student athletes and over 10,000 young men and women who have played in TCBL.

To our players, thank your parents for their support.

To our parents: enjoy your child’s triumphs and bumps and be sure to treasure the moments.

To our coaches: thank you for your participation and making a difference.

To our fans: please cheer all the student athletes in an environment of mutual respect and civility.
